A Little History

Yo mama jokes are hugely popular these days. Some of 'em can be downright vulgar (not something FunnyJokeDog ever encourages!) while others can be really clever and witty - FunnyJokeDog's favorite kind.

They are believed to have started during the early days of slave trading and basically take the form of two people trash-talking each other - they take turns insulting each other's mother until one of them runs out of comebacks in which case they lose and are humiliated.

Although they started out as an Afro-Caribbean tradition during the slave trade, nowadays they are found throughout the world in many different cultures - popularised through rap and hip-hop music and TV shows.

With the idea being to continually trade insults until one of you can't think of any more, you can see why it's important to have a huge array of Yo Mama jokes ready if you're going in to battle. With FunnyJokeDog's appalling memory, he'd be useless at it unless he was allowed to use the internet on his phone - they'd have to paws (sorry awful dog pun!) the game while he did so!

There has been some debate about whether Yo Mama jokes are offensive but FunnyJokeDog's opinion is that as long as both side are willing participants and it doesn't boil over into anger, then it's just harmless fun for the most part (as long as the jokes aren't TOO crude or offensive). There's too much PC crap in this world as it is!

In Closing

If you're going to go to battle with a hardened Yo Mama exponent then you're obviously going to need a lot more than this short selection but Google is your friend and you can easily find hundreds of examples on the web.
